Bobcats Roll Past Marymount

ARLINGTON, Va. – The Frostburg State women's soccer team shutout conference foe Marymount to win the CAC match, 6-0, Wednesday evening.

It was complete Bobcat domination all evening as Frostburg State (8-5-2, 4-0-1) outshot the Saints (4-9, 0-5) 36-0 including 26 shots in the first half.

Junior Leah Yurko had two back-to-back goals in the first half of the game, giving the Bobcats a 2-0 lead early on. Her first goal of the night came in the 11th minute of the game when she dodged several defenders to find the back of the net unassisted.

Yurko scored again at the 25:59 mark when assists from teammates Chelsie McCoy and Danielle Ferris led to another FSU goal. The two goals Yurko scored tonight put her at seven total goals on the season.

Only five minutes later, the Bobcats found the back of the net again, this time when an assist from Yurko led to another FSU goal by Ferris.

To kick off the second half of play, Brooke Longo knocked one in for the Bobcats in the 50th minute to put FSU up 4-0.

Back-to-back goals for the Bobcats came in the 54th and 57th minutes of play. First, a pass from McCoy to sophomore Kourtney McClain found the back of the net. Then, freshman Anais Ventura found an open pass to sophomore Melanie Bell who knocked one in for the Bobcats.

This marks the Bobcats fourth shutout of the season.

Marymount goalkeepers Carolina Saavedra and Joanna Chenaille totaled for 10 saves on the night.  While FSU's goalkeeper Paige Gray walked away with the shutout and the win.

FSU will play on Saturday, October 17 when they travel to St. Mary's for a conference match at 3:30pm.
