LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Frostburg State field hockey team dropped a 5-1 decision to No. 10 Lynchburg College, Monday evening.

Despite jumping out to an early 1-0 lead, the Bobcats (7-5, 0-1) could not hold off the Hornets (10-2, 2-1) as they scored five unanswered goals to take the victory. The Hornets are currently ranked 10^th nationally according to the NFHCA Coaches' poll.

Lynchburg outshot the Bobcats 26-9; however FSU goalkeeper junior Jackie Gover made 10 saves on the night, including six in the first half.

Senior Jackie Best scored the lone goal for the Bobcats in the 10^th minute of the game when she faced a one-on-one opportunity with the Hornet goalkeeper and was able to find the back of the cage to put the Bobcats on the board first.

Best had four shots on the night, including three shots on goal. This marks her fifth goal of the season for the Bobcats.

Lynchburg scored two goals back-to-back in the first half in the 25^th and 28^th minutes of the game. Nicole Simpao bested the Bobcat defense twice to score, first off of a penalty stroke and again when she knocked one in off a pass from Lacey Elliott.

The Bobcat defense could not hold off the Hornets in the second half and Lynchburg slipped three past FSU in the final half. Lynchburg's third goal of the game came in the 40^th minute from a crossing pass from Lacey Elliott to Kayla Copeman.

Lynchburg scored again in the 47^th minute unassisted and their final goal of the game came in the 63^rd minute when Sydney Rampey found Isabella Eldridge to edge the Hornets to victory.

FSU's Gover made 10 saves on the night while Lynchburg goalkeepers Beka Hess and Sarah Suter split time in goal. Hess made five saves on the night and walked away with the victory.  

The Bobcats will return to action at home Wednesday, October 14 when they face Shenandoah at 7:00 pm.
