ALTOONA, Pa. – In a battle of two six-wins clubs on Thursday, Frostburg posted a dominant second half to capture a 5-1 win over Penn State Altoona in its final non-conference game of the season.
Five different players scored as the Bobcats (7-2) posted their second-highest scoring output of the season.
Freshman Guy Nabo scored for Frostburg (7-2) in the 16
th minute and junior goalkeeper Hassan Mostafa stopped a penalty kick in the opening minutes of the second half.
From there, it was all Bobcats as they connected with four goals on five shots to take control.
Sophomore Owen Marx provided the game-winner at 66:55 when he scored on a deflected cross from junior Erik Casterline.
Freshman Serigne Gueye handed out assists for Frostburg's next two goals. He found freshman K.J. Davis in the 75
th minute, who beat the keeper from 10 yards out. Less than two minutes later, Gueye and freshman Kelvin Tata connected to make it 4-1.
Freshman Hunter Jarmon added an exclamation point to the evening when he outraced defenders and scored from inside the box for the 5-1 final.
Davis matched Gueye by handing out a pair of assists on both Nabo's first-half tally and Jarmon's final goal.
Frostburg outshot Penn State Altoona 17-13 and Mostafa notched six saves in the victory. Matthew Hibbs scored the Lions' (6-3) only goal of the night in the 24
th minute to knot the game at 1-1 at intermission.
Frostburg returns to action on Saturday when it hosts Wesley at 5:00 pm.
