FROSTBURG, Md. – Fourth-ranked Carnegie Mellon used three second-half goals to propel the Tartans to a 3-0 victory over the Frostburg State women's soccer team, Sunday afternoon.

The Bobcats and Tartans battled to a 0-0 tie after the first 45 minutes of action before freshman Alex Moy came off the bench and immediately broke up the scoreless game with a header past the outstretched arms of Bobcat senior keeper Katie Smith. Moy headed in a ball off Smith's save of a header from senior Savina Reid in the 70
th minute.
Just over three minutes later freshman Morgan Kontor made it a 2-0 game as she collected a hard pass from Sienna Stritter in front of the net in traffic to beat Smith. Junior Alli McGugan finished off the scoring for the Tartans as she found a loose ball and dribbled past a lone Bobcat defender before sliding it past Smith to give CMU a 3-0 lead with just under eight minutes to play.
The Bobcats had their final scoring chance with just over a minute to play as Frostburg was awarded a corner kick and freshman Kourtney McLain tried to head the ball past the Tartan keeper sophomore, but Katie Liston made her second save of the game and kept FSU off the board.
FSU was outshot 18-2 by Carnegie Mellon and the Tartans held a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks. Smith finished the day with six saves while Liston needed just two in the win.
Frostburg State returns to action when the Bobcats travel to Salisbury on Saturday for a 3:00 pm contest.
