FROSTBURG, Md. – The Bridgewater College field hockey team scored the game's first three goals en route to a 4-1 victory over Frostburg State, Sunday afternoon.
Box ScoreThe Eagles scored just one goal in the first half, but added three in the second half as they evened their overall record at 5-5. Allison Kirk came off the bench to score the first two goals for Bridgewater in the 16
th and 41
st minutes. Elizabeth Washington added the visitor's third goal at 49:39.
Sophomore Naja Butler scored her first collegiate goal in the 52
nd minute when she redirected a cross past Eagle keeper Amanda Harper that narrowed the Frostburg (5-5) deficit to 3-1. Junior Jackie Best was credited with the assist.
Caroline Augsburger scored off a penalty corner in the 61
st minute to widen the gap to three, 4-1, and seal the win.
Bobcat sophomore keeper Jacqueline Gover did her part to keep the Bobcats in the game, making 15 saves in 70 minutes of action. Junior Emma Wade and freshman Savannah Neubert each recorded a defensive save to keep Bridgewater from adding to its lead.
Frostburg returns to action next Saturday when it travels to St. Mary's at 12:00 pm.
