Muise Leads Bobcats to Victory

FROSTBURG, Md. – Junior Mitchell Muise converted a 40-yard free kick to lift the Frostburg State men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over visiting Hood, Wednesday evening.

Box Score

With the win, the Bobcats improved to 5-2-1 on the year while the Blazers fell to 4-3 for the season.

After a relatively quiet first half from both teams in which the Bobcats out-shot Hood 10-4, the two teams took a 0-0 tie into half time.

A foul on Hood around the 40 yard mark at 62:40 set up a free kick for the Bobcats and Muise let the ball fly past an outstretched Blazer goalie to give FSU a 1-0 lead with just under 28 minutes to play in regulation.

Sophomore keeper Hassan Mostafa staved off a flurry of shots from Hood to keep the 1-0 lead, making five of his nine saves for the contest in the last 25 minutes of action. Mostafa made the biggest save of the game with just two seconds remaining on the clock as sophomore Christiano Pillari took a shot just in front of the net in an attempt to tie the game but Mostafa batted it away for his fifth win of the year.

Blazer keeper Henry Mills started in net for Hood and made three saves in the first half while Ryan Deuber relieved him for the second and made three stops while giving up one goal.

The Bobcats return to action when they travel to Dover, Del. on Saturday to open Capital Athletic Conference action against Wesley at 6:00 pm.
