WASHINGTON, Pa. – Five different Frostburg State players found the net in an impressive 5-0 shutout of Washington & Jefferson, Saturday.
Box ScoreThe Bobcats scored two goals in the first and erupted with three goals in the second half to push their record to 3-2-1 on the season. Frostburg outshot W&J 18-9 and FSU finished with three-second half goals on just six shots. It was the first multi-goal game of the season for Frostburg.
Sophomore Nabayee Tesfu got things going for Frostburg at 9:06 with the game's first goal off a pass from Brett Basham. With the first half drawing to a close, W&J (2-3) fouled Frostburg and the visitors were awarded a penalty kick that junior Bryan Lentine converted for a 2-0 intermission cushion.
Ten minutes into the second half, freshman Daniel Ramirez extended the Bobcat advantage to 3-0 when he scored on a free kick.
With time winding down in regulation FSU tacked on two more goals. Basham found junior Hendrik de Wit for a goal at 86:33 and freshman Austin Campbell tallied an unassisted goal at 88:00 to cap the afternoon action.
Sophomore Hassan Mostafa posted four saves for his third shutout of the season. The Presidents' Jon Best notched six saves and in a little over 78 minutes of action, but suffered the loss after allowing three goals.
FSU returns to the field on Tuesday when it hosts Penn State Altoona at 7:00 pm.
