Bobcats Cruise To Pair Of Wins

FROSTBURG, Md. – Frostburg State posted a pair of 3-0 shutouts over La Roche and Cairn Friday evening on the first night of the 2014 FSU Tournament.

Freshman Amanda Snowden led the charge offensively as she hit .404 with 26 kills over the two matches, while senior Morgan Hoover hit .523 with 14 kills. Freshman Naya Cheatem chipped in 19 kills and junior Aimee Petrides added 18 kills as the Bobcats improved to 5-5 overall.
 
Freshman Madelyn Torres posted a season-high 43 assists in the opening match win over La Roche and finished the night with 66. She also registered 17 digs. Freshman Lindsey Scepura collected 27 digs.
 
In their first match against La Roche, the Bobcats hit .268 in the first set en route to a 25-21 win. FSU repeated that mark in the second game with another 25-21 victory before closing out the match with a 25-15 win behind a .294 hitting percentage.
 
Hoover hit .769 with 10 kills against the Redhawks.
 
The Bobcats improved on their numbers in the second match and hit .299 with five blocks in the three set win. Frostburg opened with 25-11 and 25-13 wins. In the third set, Frostburg posted 18 kills and hit .342 with a set-closing 25-17 victory.
 
Frostburg returns to action tomorrow morning at 10:00 am against Waynesburg.
