FROSTBURG, Md. – Senior Stephanie Fazenbaker scored in the 78
th minute to help lift Frostburg State to a slim 1-0 win over Gettysburg, Wednesday.
Box ScoreThe win pushes Frostburg to 4-0-1 overall while the Bullets, ranked sixth in the NSCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Poll, fall to 2-2.
Frostburg was outshot by Gettysburg 15-7, including an 8-2 deficit in the opening stanza. Sophomore keeper Katie Smith kept the hosts from falling behind with four saves in the first half. She added three in second half and finished with a season high.
In the 78
th minute, sophomore Jessi Martz flicked a long header towards the Bullet goal where Fazenbaker ran onto the ball and carried in nearly 40 yards before slipping a shot into the upper left corner of the net for the game's only goal.
Nearly 10 minutes later, Gettysburg's Georgia Ferguson had a chance to tie the game but her shot from in front of the net was caught by Smith to seal the win.
Frostburg returns to action this Saturday when it hosts Catholic at 1:00 pm.
