Men’s Basketball Outlasted By Penn State Harrisburg

FROSTBURG, Md. – Penn State Harrisburg had four players score in double figures as it earned a 75-65 win over host Frostburg State in CAC action, Thursday.

The Lions (7-13, 4-8) shot 58.1 percent from the field (25-of-43) and snapped a six-game losing skid. Meanwhile, the Bobcats fell to 2-18 overall and 1-11 in the CAC.

The teams battled back-and-forth in the opening half to the tune of nine lead changes. The Bobcats led by seven points on three occasions and held the advantage for almost the entire stanza. The Lions took their first lead of the half with just 4:26 to play and Logan Stovall hit a three-pointer with 23 seconds left to give the visitors a 35-32 lead at intermission.

The Lions opened the second half with a three-pointer just 24 seconds into play and they never trailed in the period. Bobcat junior Torrell Goodman knocked down a pair of free throws at 15:17 to draw FSU to within one, 43-42. The Lions slowly built their lead to 10 points, 65-55, with 4:00 to play.

Sophomore Nick Smoot hit a pair of clutch three-pointers inside the final three minutes that pulled Frostburg to within five points each time. However, PSH held the Bobcats without a basket over the final 2:19, while building its lead back to 10 at the final horn.

Smoot finished with 20 points behind 4-of-7 from beyond the arc. Juniors Tyler Campbell and Jabari Kamau scored 12 and 10, respectively, to round out three starters in double figures for Frostburg.

Stovall led all players with a game-high 22 points on 9-of-10 shooting. He sparked a Lion bench that outscored FSU's bench, 52-10. Kenny Stone (15 pts.) and Marquese Daniels (13 pts.) capped three non-starters in double figures. William Doyle scored 14 points to lead the starting lineup in scoring.

Frostburg returns to action on Saturday when it hosts St. Mary's (Md.) at 3:00 pm.
