Bobcats Stumble on Senior Day

FROSTBURG, Md. – Salisbury ended the first half on a 17-4 run and the Frostburg State women's basketball team just couldn't recover, falling 75-52 on the Bobcats' senior day and final game of the 2013-14 season.

Box Score

Right out of the gate the Bobcats (8-17, 3-13 CAC) took a 6-2 advantage fueled by two buckets from sophomore Deara Parker in the first two minutes of play.

Salisbury (17-8, 12-4 CAC) tied it up, 6-6, at 16:31 and refused to relinquish the lead throughout the duration of the contest.

The Sea Gulls built up a nine-point lead at 11:34 but Parker continued to provide an offensive outlet for the Bobcats, pouring in a layup and back-to-back free throws. Junior guard Ronje' James hit a jumper and freshman Kayla Love hit a long-range three pointer at 9:44 to bring the Bobcats as close as two, 25-23.

The Bobcats came as close as two points once more before the half ended, but the Sea Gulls completed a 17-4 streak in the last eight minutes of the half to hold a 17-point lead, 46-29.

FSU completed a 9-1 run in the last 10 minutes of the second frame, but the first-half deficit was too much to overcome as the Bobcats fell 75-52.

James led the Bobcats in scoring with 15 points while junior Simone Wise collected 12 points and four rebounds. Parker and senior Elaina Hummel both contributed a team-high five rebounds.

Junior guard Anna Hackett led all scorers with 22 points while classmate Sarah Seipp contributed 16 points and 10 rebounds.

The Bobcats honored the 2013-14 seniors before tip-off. Hummel, Tamara Maxwell and Lindsey Perkins were acknowledged during the pre-game for their final game in a Bobcat uniform.
