Women's Basketball Drops Two-Point Heartbreaker

FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State women's basketball team dropped a heartbreaking two-point loss to Penn State Harrisburg Wednesday night at Bobcat Arena, 60-58.

Tajaia Tillman opened up scoring for the Bobcats 1:04 into the game with Ronje James following up with two made free throws to lead 4-0. Back-and-forth scoring occurred for the next six minutes before a layup with 10:17 left in the first half by Frostburg's Jasmine Walker led the Bobcats on a 19-2 run to take a 32-16 lead into the intermission.

The Bobcats (1-6, 0-3 CAC) led by as many as 19 points with 17:38 left in the game, but the momentum shifted for Penn State Harrisburg (3-5, 2-1 CAC) when Janel Brown made two free throws to lead the Lions on a 9-0 run. The Lions chipped away at Frostburg's lead throughout the remaining minutes, eventually taking back its lead in with 1:41 left in the game.

Down five with 21 seconds remaining, James knocked down two free throws and Walker hit a jumper for the Bobcats to come within one point in the final seven seconds. A Frostburg foul sent Penn State Harrisburg's Becca Bailey to the line where she sank her free throw to give the Lions' its final point and hold on for a 60-58 victory.

James led Frostburg with eight points and three rebounds while Walker added seven points and six rebounds. The Bobcats averaged 82.9 percent and was 10-of-12 from the free-throw line.

The Lions were led by Kaitlyn Carmo's nine points and Kiara Carter's seven points and seven rebounds.

Frostburg State will return to the court December 22 when it travels to Lynchburg, Va. to take on Randolph in a non-conference matchup at 6 p.m.
