Football Drops 16th Annual Regents Cup

FROSTBURG, Md. – Frostburg State hung tough with in-state rival Salisbury, but the visiting Sea Gulls scored a game sealing touchdown midway through the fourth quarter for a 27-10 win in the 16th Annual Regents Cup game, Saturday.
 
FSU (4-6, 2-6) trailed 20-3 went it got the ball for the first time in the fourth quarter and narrowed the deficit to 20-10 that gave Bobcat Stadium a spark. On first and 10 from the 30, Bobcat senior quarterback Ken Emmons connected with sophomore wide out Thomas Moore for a 70-yard touchdown that took all of 13 seconds and pulled FSU to 20-10 with 12:20 to play in the fourth.
 
On Salisbury's ensuring possession, the Bobcat defense limited the visitors to just four yards and forced a punt to the Bobcat 35. However, SU forced Frostburg into a three-and-out and when the Sea Gulls (6-4, 5-3) got the ball back they sealed the win when Aaron Moore rushed 59 yards for the score and a 27-10 edge.
 
Emmons captured Mike McGlinchey MVP honors after throwing for 151 yards (11-of-18) and one touchdown. He connected with junior Haydan Roberts for 49 yards on five receptions, while senior Ben Sasu ran for 89 yards on 13 carries. He busted out a 50-yard run up the home sideline midway through the third quarter.
 
Moore captured MVP honors for Salisbury after scoring three total touchdowns and rushing for 109 yards on 10 carries. SU finished with 391 yards rushing.
 
Defensively, senior Rowan Pinkett led both teams with 14 tackles and a forced fumble. Senior Keith Smith added 11 stops, while sophomore William Sewell added 11 tackles, 2.0 TFL and one sack.
