Bobcats Open Season with Double OT Win

FROSTBURG, Md. – Senior guard Ronje' James tied a career-high with 31 points, including the game-tying three pointer to send the contest into the first overtime frame, as Frostburg rallied for a 73-69 win over Westminster, Friday evening, in the first game of the 2014 Jim Crawley Tournament.

Frostburg (1-0) trailed by as many as 11 points in the first half and by seven, 48-41, with 7:17 to play in the second half. Freshman TJ Tillman hit a jumper that cut the Bobcat deficit to one, 48-47, with 4:30 to play in regulation.
 
The Titans (0-1) built their lead back to four, 52-48, with 30 seconds to play, but FSU sophomore Kache Fields hit a jumper and James knocked down a three with one second to go to send the contest into overtime.
 
James opened the first overtime with a three-pointer and Frostburg built its lead to seven, 62-55, with 2:01 to go. However, Westminster scored the final seven points, including a three-pointer with 14 seconds showing, to send the game into a second overtime.
 
In the final frame, Bobcat freshman Adjowa Pinkrah and junior Bria Jones hit back-to-back layups to build Frostburg's lead to 70-65 with just over two minutes to play.

Westminster cut it to one inside the final minute but the Bobcats made 3-of-4 foul shots in the final seconds to seal the win.

James added eight rebounds and five assists to 31 points, while 12 of those points came in the two overtimes. In her collegiate debut, Tillman added 13 points, 11 boards and five steals, while senior Jasmine Walker led both squads with 14 rebounds to go along with nine points.
 
Westminster was led by Allison Borts with 12 points and 13 rebounds, followed by Rachel Durbin with 11.
 
With the win, Frostburg will face Gettysburg in the championship game on Sunday at 4:00 pm. Westminster and Susquehanna will meet in the consolation game at 2:00 pm.
