WINCHESTER, Va. – Shenandoah scored two goals in each half to earn a 4-1 victory over Frostburg State in non-conference field hockey action, Tuesday.
Following a Hornet goal in the seventh minute, the Bobcats (5-7) knotted the contest at 1-1 at 27:57 when junior Jackie Best scored for the second-straight game. Junior Kathryn Bickerstaff was credited with the assist and it was Best's sixth goal of the season.
Less than two minutes later, Shenandoah's Kelani Bailey put the hosts up at the half with her first of two goals on the afternoon. Bailey opened second-half action with her second score that handed SU (8-4) a 3-1 cushion in the 39
th minute.
Tory Finney added an insurance goal off a penalty corner at 41:26 that extended the Hornet lead to 4-1.
Freshman Nicole Leighty suffered the loss in goal for FSU allowing all four goals, while Jenna Rampale made one save for the win for Shenandoah.
The Bobcats are back in action this Saturday when they host No.1 ranked Salisbury at 11:00 am.
