FROSTBURG, Md. – Senior Stephanie Fazenbaker scored twice and the Frostburg State University women's soccer team earned a 2-0 shutout win over Marymount, Friday.
The Bobcats improved their overall record to 9-3-2 and 3-1 in the CAC. The shutout is the seventh for Frostburg this season and is the second-straight in league action.
After a scoreless first half in which FSU led 9-2 in shots, Fazenbaker headed home the first score in the 55
th minute off a cross from junior Erin Worthman. At 69:31, freshman Melanie Bell hit a long pass up the middle to a charging Fazenbaker who knocked home a left footed attempt for a 2-0 Bobcat lead.
The Frostburg defense limited the Saints (1-10-1, 0-4) to just two shots, both in the first half. Senior keeper Katie Smith needed just one save in the first for her fifth shutout win this fall. Marymount's Holly Wenger made 10 saves in the losing effort.
Frostburg returns to action on Wednesday when it hosts York (Pa.) at 7:00 pm.
