Box Score

In addition to Hummel's 30, she added a team-high eight rebounds, eight assists and three steals, along with a 15-of-16 free throw performance. Hummel currently stands at seventh in the nation in free throw shooting percentage (90.1).

Junior Simone Wise completed a 23-point night, while classmate Ronje' James posted 12 points. Freshman Kayla Love also hit double-figures with 10 points.

In a fast-paced game that saw a combined 205 points, Christopher Newport jumped out to an early 21-10 lead in the first six minutes of play and held a double-digit lead throughout the first half.

The Bobcats (3-12, 1-8) struggled to score in the first half, netting just 27 points off a 12-for-42 (28.6%) shooting performance. FSU relied heavily on Wise and Hummel who scored a combined 21 points in the first half.

The second frame rang a different tune as the Bobcats outscored the Captains 62-51, but couldn't overcome the first half deficit.

CNU held its largest lead of the game, 41 points, at 14:42 left to play. Refusing to go down without a fight, the Bobcats went on a 16-2 run beginning at 13:45. James scored all of her 12 points in the three-minute stretch to close the gap to 27 points, with 10:34 remaining. That's as close as FSU would get, finishing the game 118-89.

The Captains were paced by senior Nicole Mitchell who netted a game-high 38 points along with 11 rebounds. Junior Camry Green also notched a double-double, scoring 20 points and posting 12 rebounds.

Frostburg State returns to action on Monday as it hosts Mount Aloysius at 6:00 pm.
