YORK, Pa. – Five separate Bobcats scored in double-digits as the Frostburg State men's basketball team clenched a 72-68 victory in the final minutes of a tight Capital Athletic Conference battle, Wednesday night.
The Bobcat starting lineup all reached double-figures as the Bobcats grabbed their second win of the season. Junior Jabari Kamau posted a game-high 18 points, including a layup in the last 30 seconds of regulation, to put the Bobcats up two, 70-68.
Senior Aaron Bellamy poured in 14 points and junior Torrell Goodman netted 12 points to reach a double-double with 10 rebounds. Rounding out the starting lineup, juniors Quinton Dodson and Tyler Campbell scored 10 points apiece.
The game looked wrapped up by the Bobcats at 3:30 as FSU clung to an eight-point lead, 60-68. The Spartans, refusing to go down without a fight, went on an 8-0 run to tie the game at 68-68 with just 59 seconds remaining on the clock.
Kamau netted a layup and as the Spartans charged down the floor for a last-chance effort to tie the game, Dodson intercepted a crucial ball with 15 seconds to play. York had no other option but to foul, as senior Brian Biscoe closed out the game with two free throws for a 72-68 win.
YCP senior Matt McNeely paced the hosts with 15 points while classmate Mike Mathews contributed 13 points and freshman Dalton Myers finished with 10.
Frostburg returns to action this Saturday (Jan. 25) for a CAC matchup against Christopher Newport at 3:00 pm.
