SALISBURY, Md. – Junior James Peters tied a school record with seven three-pointers as the Frostburg State University men's basketball team dropped a 90-82 decision to rival Salisbury, Saturday afternoon in CAC action.

Peters scored a career-high 34 points to lead the Bobcats (1-14, 0-7 CAC) offensively. He shot 13-of-25 (52.0%) from the field and became the seventh player in school history to hit seven three's in a contest. Peters has caught fire over the last five games, averaging 23.8 ppg while surpassing 30 points in a game twice.
Peters' first two baskets of the ballgame gave Frostburg a pair of early leads, including a 7-5 edge at 17:33. However, Salisbury (5-9, 2-5) rebounded and led for the rest of the afternoon. The Sea Gulls led by as many as 11 points in the first half before carrying a 36-27 lead into the lockerroom.
Chris Vigueira hit a three-pointer with 7:42 to play in regulation that gave the hosts their largest lead of the game, 71-50. Frostburg answered with a quick 12-2 run that cut the deficit to 11 points, 73-62, with 5:01 showing. Junior Jabari Kamau sparked the run with five of his 11 points.
Inside the final two minutes, the Bobcats cut their deficit to nine points twice but were unable to draw any closer. Junior Samuel Bianconi hit a three-pointer at 1:46 to make the score 84-75, while junior Quinton Dodson hit a layup at 1:29 as FSU trailed 86-77.
Salisbury pushed its lead back to double digits on its ensuing possession and sealed the 12-point win with several free throws inside the final minute.
Frostburg shot 50.8 percent (31-of-61) from the floor and 54.5 percent from beyond the arc with 12 three-pointers. Salisbury earned the win at the foul line, finishing 33-of-39 (84.6%), including a 29-of-34 effort (85.2%) in the second half.
Senior Aaron Bellamy was the third Bobcat in double figures with 10 points, while junior Torrell Goodman snared seven rebounds.
The Sea Gulls finished with four players in double figures, led by 23 points from Charles Porter. Gordon Jeter contributed 18 points and 11 boards.
Frostburg returns to action at York (Pa.) this Wednesday at 8:00 pm.
