Volleyball Drops Two on First Day of Marietta Tournament

MARIETTA, Ohio – The Frostburg State University volleyball squad dropped two matches to Ohio Valley and Hiram on the first day of the Marietta College Tournament, Friday night.

The Bobcats (1-3) dropped their opening match of the day to Ohio Valley in three sets by set scores 25-16, 25-18 and 25-11.

Senior April Wolfe paced the Bobcats with six kills and eight digs. Junior Morgan Hoover and sophomore Aimee Petrides both contributed five kills and Petrides also donated five digs. Sophomore Caitlin Collins impressed with her serving skills with four services aces, while also handing out 16 assists.

In the second match of the day, the Bobcats fell in three sets to Hiram behind scores of 25-8, 25-21 and 25-12.

On the defensive side the Bobcats battled, helped by Petrides’ 10 digs and senior Brianna Teets’ four blocks. Teets contributed two blocks in the first set against Ohio Valley.

For the day, Collins dished out 29 assists and six service aces while senior Jamie Frank finished with 19 digs.
 
The Bobcats return to action for the second day of the Marietta Tournament as they face host Marietta at 11:00 am and Grove City at 2:00 pm.
