TOWSON, Md. – Senior April Wolfe and sophomore Caitlyn Collins each posted a pair of double-doubles as the Frostburg State volleyball team split a pair of matches at the Goucher Invitational, Friday.
The Bobcats opened the four-match weekend with a 3-2 victory over host Goucher. FSU rebounded from a game-one defeat (25-16), with 25-14 and 25-19 victories in the second and third sets. The Gophers evened the match at 2-2 with a 25-18 win in the fourth game. However, FSU took the match with a 15-10 showing in the fifth and decisive game.
Petrides led the team with 13 kills to go along with nine digs, while senior April Wolfe posted a double-double with 12 kills and 17 digs.
Collins finished with 35 assists in the first match, her third highest total of the fall season. She also tossed in 12 digs. Senior Jamie Frank led both squads with 19 digs.
In the second match, FSU again fell behind after the first game with a 25-22 setback. The Bobcats rallied with a 25-19 win in the second game, but Hollins captured games three (25-20) and four (25-16) to win the match.
Petrides and Wolfe led the attack with 12 kills each, while Wolfe contributed 17 digs. Collins handed out 30 assists with 13 digs, while Frank equaled Collins with 13 digs.
FSU returns to action today against Washington College at 11:00 am.
