Bobcats Drop Pair On Second Day Of Goucher Invitational

TOWSON, Md. – The Frostburg State volleyball squad lost to both Washington and Kean on the second day of the Goucher Invitational, Saturday.

In their first match of the day, the Bobcats (3-16) endured a 3-0 loss to Washington. The Shorewomen earned 25-16, 25-20 and 25-12 wins over FSU.

Senior Jamie Frank posted a match-best 14 digs, while senior April Wolfe added 10. Sophomore Caitlyn Collins handed out 14 assists, while classmate Aimee Petrides led the team with six kills.

In the second match, Frostburg fell to Kean in five sets.

The Bobcats grabbed the first game with a 25-21 win. Kean rebounded by winning the next two games 25-18 and 25-19. FSU hung tough and forced a fifth set by taking game four 25-21. However, Kean earned a narrow 15-12 win in the fifth game to take the match.

Petrides smacked a career-best 18 kills and Collins registered 37 assists to lead the attack.

Five different Bobcats posted 10 or more digs in the five-set loss. Frank matched a career-high with 21 digs, followed by both Wolfe and Petrides with 13 each. Collins and freshman Kayla Porter each finished with 10.

FSU returns to the court this Wednesday with a match at Marymount at 7:00 pm.
