FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State women's soccer team lost to Stevenson by a score of 3-0 for their third-consecutive defeat, Saturday night.
Box Score
The Bobcats (2-5) outshot the Mustangs (6-3) in the first half by a margin of 8-1. They were unable to capitalize on several good scoring opportunities that would have given them a lead at half, but despite the large edge in shots the teams went into halftime tied at zero.
The second half was a different story, as the Mustangs' possession was finally converted into some good scoring chances. Stevenson broke through in the 63rd minute with an unassisted goal by Alexis Siejack that would prove to be the game-winner.
The Mustangs would tack on two more goals. Meaghan Williams, assisted by Mandy Marston, scored at 69:29 to make the score 2-0. Siejack added her second goal of the night off a pass from Williams in the 86th minute to cap the scoring.
Stevenson edged Frostburg in total shots 13-12, and held an 8-5 advantage in shots on goal. Sophomore Erin Worthman led the Bobcats in shots with five, including two on goal.
FSU junior keeper Katie Smith made five saves in the losing effort, while SU keeper Annie McCoach made five saves as well.
The Bobcats return to action Wednesday night when they host Penn State Altoona in a non-conference game at 7:00 pm.
