FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State University men’s lacrosse team suffered its first loss of the season with a 12-8 setback to Aurora, Friday night.

The Spartans (1-3) opened the second half with five goals that covered just 4:40 for an 8-4 lead in the third quarter. FSU (3-1) countered with three-consecutive goals to draw within one at 8-7, but Aurora tallied four of the game’s final five goals for the victory.
Frostburg, which didn’t commit a penalty in the contest, capitalized on just 1-of-8 Aurora penalties and couldn’t find the net despite four penalties on the visitors inside the final 4:02 of the fourth quarter.
Freshman Spenser Love led Frostburg with two goals and three assists. He scored once and handed out two assists in a 3-0 Bobcat run early in the game that erased a 1-0 Aurora lead. Junior Ryan Serio and sophomore Devin Colegrove each finished with one goal and one assist.
Bobcat junior Tyler Haines stopped eight shots in net, while classmate Billy Lark won 12-of-21 faceoffs.
Max Obriecht led Aurora with four goals, followed by Danny Loyall and Andrew Schoessell with two goals and one assist each. All four of Obreicht goals came in the second half, including two during the crucial 5-0 to open third quarter action.
Frostburg returns to action on Sunday when it hosts Cazenovia at 1:00 pm.
