Bobcats Fall To Seventh Ranked Salisbury

FROSTBURG, Md. – Tyler Smith scored four goals and seventh ranked Salisbury overpowered Frostburg State in CAC men’s lacrosse action, Saturday at a sunny Bobcat Stadium.

The Bobcats (6-3) got on the board first when junior Spencer Barnett scored an unassisted tally with 10:10 showing on the clock.

After that, SU (9-2) scored nine-consecutive goals over the next three quarters for a 9-1 advantage with 10:55 left in the final stanza.

Salisbury, which won for the eighth-straight game, won 15-of-16 faceoffs and held a 45-39 lead in shots. Six different Sea Gulls scored in the win, led by Smith’s four goals. He scored the first goal of the contest for SU that knotted the game at 1-1 with 9:26 left in the first quarter. He found the net three times in the fourth. Stephen Norris added one goal and one assist.

Sophomore Devin Colegrove was the only other Bobcat to find the net in the loss to the Gulls. He had an unassisted score with 6:06 left in the fourth that halted SU’s 9-0 run. Junior Tyler Haines tied a season-high with 16 saves and scooped up a team-best eight ground balls.

Frostburg returns to action on Saturday, March 30, at St. Mary’s at 1:00 pm.
