Big Fourth Quarter Propels FSU Past Lebanon Valley

ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Frostburg State University men’s lacrosse team scored four goals in the fourth quarter to earn an 8-6 win over Lebanon Valley, Saturday.
 
The Bobcats open the 2013 season 3-0, while LVC settles at 1-1.
 
Junior Ryan Serio and freshman Spenser Love each scored in the fourth quarter as FSU broke a 4-4 tie following three quarters of action. Serio scored back-to-back goals (12:05 & 10:28) as FSU surged ahead 6-4. Love scored the first of his two goals at 9:00 to give Frostburg a 7-4 cushion.
 
Following an LVC goal that cut the lead to 7-5, Love netted his second of the quarter with just 2:36 to play to extend the FSU lead to 8-5. Lebanon Valley scored with 1:51 to close out the contest.
 
Serio and Love combined to score all eight goals for the Bobcats on the afternoon. Serio finished with five scores while Love added three. Sophomore Chris Rios handed out two assists. Junior keeper Tyler Haines made 16 saves and picked up a team-best five ground balls.
 
Serio scored three goals in the first half as the game featured three ties and four lead changes. Serio scored with 34 seconds left in the second quarter to give FSU a 4-3 advantage at intermission.
 
Malik Pedroso led the Dutchmen with two goals and two assists. Mike Moll made 12 saves in the loss.
 
The Bobcats return to action next Friday when they host Aurora at 7:00 pm at Bobcat Stadium.
