ARLINGTON, Va. – Despite a pair of starters scoring in double figures, the Frostburg State men’s basketball team endured a tough 71-53 road loss at Marymount, Saturday.

The Bobcats (7-11, 2-4 CAC) struggled to get into an offensive rhythm and the Saints (6-11, 1-4 CAC) used a strong performance from their players off the bench and they took advantage of FSU foul trouble for their first CAC win of the year.
Marymount finished with four players in double figures, including three off the bench. MU held a 41-8 edge in bench points, including a 27-7 lead in the second half. The hosts also capitalized on 25 personal fouls that were called against the Bobcats by shooting 25-of-27 (92.5%) at the foul line.
The first half had seven lead changes and four ties and Marymount edged its way to a 29-25 lead at halftime.
In the second, Bobcat senior DeSean Antoine hit a three-pointer that cut the deficit to 42-40 with 11:13 to play that appeared to give Frostburg some momentum.
However, things didn’t go well for the Bobcats after that as Marymount outscored FSU 29-13 over the remainder of the contest.
Following Antoine’s three-pointer, MU quickly opened an 11 point lead, 53-42, with 6:39 left in the game. The Saints drained four free throws as they opened their first 20-point lead, 66-46, with 2:59 to play.
Senior Christian Jackson poured in his fifth double-double of the season as he scored 20 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. Antoine finished with 19 points and three three-pointers.
Marymount was led in scoring by Reed Scott with 16 points and a team-best eight rebounds. JC Hoellich added 15 points to lead three bench players in double figures.
FSU returns to the court on Saturday, January 26 when it hosts Mary Washington at 3:00 pm.
