FROSTBURG, Md. - The Frostburg State University women’s basketball team couldn’t find a shooting rhythm as they were held to a 22.2 field goal percentage in a 56-40 loss against Capital Athletic Conference opponent, York (Pa.), Wednesday evening.

York (13-3, 4-1 CAC) traveled to their first away contest after a seven-game homestead and came away with a win to remain tied for first in the CAC.
The Spartans held the lead for the length of the game and the Bobcats just couldn’t put together a big enough run to steal the momentum.
Frostburg (5-10, 1-4 CAC) was down 16-7 with 11:25 left in the first half when Kaliee Knight found her first two points of the game. A quick 30-second time out called by FSU and an immediate foul allowed junior guard Elaina Hummel to hit two free throws to cut the lead to seven, 16-9 at 10:52.
Senior Steph Straka got into the action with a layup of her own to cut the lead to five, 16-11 with 10 minutes left in the first frame.
The Bobcats push was short lived as York attacked the offensive end with balanced scoring from five separate Spartans to post the halftime score at 28-14.
The second half was filled with the same scoring woes as Frostburg shot 7-for-28 (25%) from the field. The Bobcats brought the game to within nine twice in the second half but were unable to make a closer run.
Hummel led the Bobcats in scoring with nine, while contributing four defensive rebounds, a steal and an assist.
Senior forward Brynn Arnone led the Bobcats in rebounding with seven. Arnone also donated seven points and a block. Freshman forward Deara Parker grabbed five of FSU’s 12 offensive boards and posted seven points, seven rebounds and a 5-for-7 performance from the stripe.
