SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - The Frostburg State University cross country teams traveled north this Saturday to compete at the 2012 Galen Piper Cross Country Challenge, hosted by Shippensburg University.

The women's team finished seventh with 217 points for the Bobcats while the men finished eighth with 236 points.
Sophomore Gabbi Maher posted the top finish for the women, crossing the finish line at 17:46 for a 39th place. Junior Jen Bower finished 43rd at 18:38.
Freshman Morgan Carroll took 44th place with a time of 18:49 in her first collegiate cross country race. Sophomore Bryn Allston took 45th place as she crossed the finish line at 19:36 before freshmen Sidney Castro and Erika Watson rounded out the finishers for Frostburg State. Castro finished her first collegiate race at 20:02 while Watson was close behind at 20:09.
Senior Gavin Caupp captured the top finish for Frostburg State with a time of 21:13 for 27th place. Caupp finished ahead of all Capital Athletic Conference runners as well.
Junior Patrick Mead finished 50th with a time of 22:35 while freshman Jeremy Brown took 52nd in his first collegiate race at 24:31. Sophomore Jon Stewart came in 53rd at 24:37 and freshmen Josh Biser (24:52, 54th) and Adam Jenkins (25:10) rounded out the runners for the Bobcats.
The Frostburg State cross country teams return to action next Saturday when the Bobcats travel to the Waynesburg University Invitational.
