Volleyball Drops CAC Tilt With Marymount

ARLINGTON, Va. – The Frostburg State University volleyball team suffered its second league loss of the season behind a 3-0 defeat to Marymount University, Wednesday.

The Bobcats (0-14, 0-2) fell in straight sets 25-17, 25-14 and 25-14.

Marymount (11-4, 1-0) rallied in the first set from a 15-12 deficit behind a 13-2 run for the win. The Saints collected an 8-1 run toward the middle part of the second set for a 16-8 edge. Following a timeout, the Bobcats pulled to within seven, 16-9, but Marymount extended its lead to 12, 22-10, before winning 25-14.

In the third and final frame, Frostburg battled back from an early deficit to tie the contest at 13-13. However, the hosts used a late 9-0 run to earn a 25-14 victory and close out the match.

The sophomore tandem of Andrea Armstrong and Maddie White led the FSU attack with eight kills each. Freshman Aimee Petrides added three kills and three service aces.

White also contributed a team-high 12 digs followed by 11 from sophomore Jamie Frank. Senior Chelsea McCloskey handed out 16 assists.

Frostburg is back in action this weekend at the NYU Tournament. FSU faces Susquehanna in the first match on Friday evening at 7:00 pm.
