The loss is the first of the season for the Bobcats as they settle to 10-1-3 overall and 2-1-1 in the CAC. UMW improves to 6-5-1 overall and 2-2 in the league with their fourth win in the last five games.

After a scoreless first half, UMW’s Tanner Carlton corralled a ball inside the 18-yard box and slid a pass toward the center of the box. Kelly then hit a shot into the left of the net past Bobcat keeper Abiye Jack.

Moments later, the Eagles had another opportunity but a hard shot hit the right post and the Bobcats successfully cleared the ball out of their defensive end.

In the final minutes of the contest, FSU scrambled to find the game tying goal. A late corner kick provided a chance for Frostburg, but the Eagles were able to keep the hosts from getting off a shot and successfully ran out the clock.

Mary Washington finished with a 13-8 lead in shots while both teams had six corner kicks. Jack finished with two saves in the loss while Back needed just one save for the win.

Frostburg travels to fifteenth ranked York (Pa.) this Wednesday at 4:00 pm.
