FROSTBURG, Md. - The Frostburg State University men’s soccer team used a second-half surge to remain unbeaten and earn a 2-1 victory over Bethany College in a constant downpour at Bobcat Stadium.

The Bobcats (2-0-1) got off nine shot attempts against Bethany (0-3) in the first half, but were held scoreless by Bison goalie Patrick Coleman.
Frostburg finally broke through in the 52nd minute on a header by Chris Jones. Ryan Russell provided the assist on a perfect pass to the net. The Bobcats would strike again on a penalty kick by senior captain Jamie Flewellyn. The Bobcats had a 2-on-1 break before Alex Brainard was tripped up by Alex Stubbs to break up the Bobcat attack. Stubbs would earn a red card on the play. Flewellyn would then beat Coleman for the easy goal.
However, the Bison would not go quietly. After a corner kick by Tomas Gonzalez, Arkangelo James gained control of the ball just in front of the Bobcat net. Frostburg goalie Abiye Jack made a diving stop for the save, and the rebound by Cameron Ward was blocked.
A foul by Frostburg in the box late in the second half provided Bethany with their only goal as Tomas Gonzalez booted home the penalty kick.
The men’s soccer team will look to remain unbeaten in their next contest against Waynesburg on September 14 at Bobcat Stadium. Game time is at 7:00 p.m.
