Box Score

Frostburg had a couple of good opportunities for a goal throughout the contest. In the first half Yacob Kahsai eluded an Averett defender but was denied by Cougar goalie Nate Barker. In the 101st minute, Raphael Adejoda made some nifty moves against a tough Averett defense, but Barker again made a clutch save to preserve the tie.

Abiye Jack made two saves in goal for Frostburg to earn his first shutout of the season.

In the shootout, both the Bobcats and the Cougars connected on their first two attempts, with Jamie Flewellyn and Francisco Diaz punching home goals for the home team. Averett missed on its third attempt in the shootout before Jack made two consecutive saves for Frostburg. The Bobcats were unable to capitalize on their chances until Ryan Russell booted home the winner.

The men’s soccer team returns to action Tuesday at home against Bethany College at 7 p.m.
