SALISBURY, Md. – #25 ranked Salisbury University used a one-man advantage in the second half Saturday afternoon to end Frostburg’s six-game unbeaten streak and down the Bobcats, 3-2, at Salisbury.

The Seagulls (5-2-1) notched the first two goals of the contest off of free kicks by Pat Callahan. Elliott Crompton headed in the first goal in the 8th minute. Larry Cornish added the second goal seven minutes later to give Salisbury an early 2-0 advantage.
The Bobcats (5-1-1) would claw back into the contest when Jamie Flewellyn scored an unassisted goal. Just four minutes later, junior Ryan Russell added a goal of his own to tie the score 2-2. The teams would head into halftime tied at 2.
Just after halftime, Frostburg’s Shawn Baker was charged with a red card, and the Bobcats were forced to play a man down the rest of the contest. Sailsbury’s Trevor Sharpe took advantage in the 57th minute as he found the back of the net and scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal.
Head Coach Keith Byrnes was happy with the Bobcats’ fight throughout the match. “I was pleased with the way we kept our heads up and kept after them. The guys put out a good effort with being one guy down in the second half.”
The Seagulls outshot the Bobcats 23-10, with Ryan Russell leading Frostburg with four shots.
The men’s soccer team returns to action on September 28 in a non-conference battle with Lycoming at Bobcat Stadium at 6:00 p.m.
