FROSTBURG, Md. - The Frostburg State University men's lacrosse team hung tough for three quarters, but No. 2 Salisbury pulled away in the fourth quarter and ended any upset chances with a 13-6 victory, Saturday.

The Bobcats (4-10, 0-6) battled hard for three quarters and trailed by just three goals, 8-5, entering the final stanza. The Sea Gulls (13-0, 6-0) turned up the offensive pressure in the fourth, outscoring FSU 5-1 and keeping the hosts from making a charge.
SU tried to run away with game in the first quarter with four goals and a 4-0 lead. However, FSU cut in to the deficit by scoring two goals in the second and eventually trailed just 5-2 at the half.
Salisbury used a 3-1 run to open third quarter play for an 8-3 lead, but FSU scored the final two goals of the frame to grab momentum heading into the decisive fourth quarter. The Sea Gulls opened the final stanza with three-straight goals for a commanding 11-5 lead.
Salisbury attempted 45 shots and won 17-of-22 faceoffs. Matt Cannone led all players with four goals. He scored three in the fourth quarter to help Salisbury remain undefeated on the season. He also added an assist on the contest's first goal. Shawn Zordani contributed three scores and two assists.
Junior
Dan Dowd (Friendship, Md./Southern) and freshman
Ryan Serio (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) proved to be a tough combination for the Salisbury defense. Dowd scored off a Serio assist in the second quarter for FSU's first score. Serio later found Dowd for a goal late in the third quarter that pulled FSU to within three, 8-5, heading into the fourth. Serio scored the Bobcats' only goal in the fourth off a pass from Dowd.
Sophomore
Lucas Flaig (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake), freshman
Brandon Lutz (Leonardtown, Md./Leonardtown) and freshman
Phil Hess (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata) each added goals while freshman
Hunter Marshall (Pocomoke, Md. / Worcester Prep.) had one assist.
FSU freshman keeper
Tyler Haines (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) stopped 19 shots, including 12 in the second half, to help keep the contest close. Haines and Hess tied for the team lead with five ground balls each.
The Bobcats visit Hood College on Tuesday for a CAC contest at 4:00 pm.
