FROSTBURG, Md. - The Frostburg State University men's lacrosse team used a 10-1 run that spanned the second and third quarters to earn a 20-9 victory over Neumann in non-conference action Saturday.

Eleven different players scored for the Bobcats who improve to 2-2 overall on the season. The victory was also the first at home during the second chapter of men's lacrosse at FSU. The previous home victory came in the late 1970's.
With Frostburg leading 4-1, the Knights (1-2) found the net early in the second quarter to pull within two at 4-2 at 13:40. However, the Bobcats scored three straight times in a three-minute stretch, including two man-up goals for a 7-2 lead. Neumann scored at 10:45 in the second, but Frostburg took control with seven consecutive goals for a 14-3 lead with 11:43 showing in the third quarter.
The teams traded a handful of scores until FSU collected another run, this time late in the third quarter. Frostburg scored threestraight goals over a 15-second span to end the third quarter and then scored two more times to open the fourth. Neumann closed out the game's action with three goals in the waning minutes of the fourth.

Dan Dowd (Friendship, Md./Southern) led the Bobcats with four goals and two assists. He scored three times in the first half and assisted two more goals during the 7-0 run. Freshman
Ryan Serio (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) assisted three of FSU's first four goals in the game and finished with five assists overall.

Phil Hess (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata) had four points (two goals and two assists) while sophomore
Lucas Flaig (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) and freshman
Zach Kowatch (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) each added three points. Flaig scored two of the game's first three goals and found the net to open second half action and Kowatch scored twice during the 7-0 run in the second quarter.
The second quarter was crucial for the Bobcat win as they won 8-of-10 faceoffs and outscored the Knights, 8-2. Freshman
Hunter Marshall (Pocomoke, Md./Worcester Prep.) won 13-of-16 faceoffs and handed out one assist. FSU freshman goalie
Tyler Haines (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) made eight saves and allowed just six goals in 45 minutes of play.
Neumann was led offensively by Mark Consolo and Mike Pantelone, who scored three goals each. The Knights scored six times in the second half after trailing 12-3 at intermission.
Frostburg State travels to Goucher on Wednesday at 3:30 pm.
