FROSTBURG, Md. - In its first varsity lacrosse game in over 30 years, the Frostburg State men's team came away with a commanding 10-3 victory over host Shenandoah in non-conference action, Saturday.

The victory served as the first contest in the new chapter of men's lacrosse history at Frostburg State. The Bobcats sponsored men's lacrosse as a varsity sport from 1970-78, but the team was moved to club status following the 1978 season.
FSU fell behind 1-0 less than four minutes into action, but rattled off two-consecutive goals for a 2-1 lead. Shenandoah (0-1) tied the game at 2-2, but the Bobcats found the net eight-straight times covering the second, third and fourth quarters for a 10-2 advantage. The Hornets scored their third goal of the game in the waning seconds.

Andy Luhman (Ashburn, Va./Briar Woods) scored two goals in the first quarter to hand FSU a 2-1 lead with 2:05 to play. Junior
Dan Dowd (Friendship, Md./Southern) later scored two-straight goals in the second quarter that broke a 2-2 tie and handed FSU a 4-2 edge. Freshman
Zach Douglas (Rising, Md./Rising Sun) was credited with an assist on Dowd's second goal.

Devon Stailey (Leonardtown, Md./Leonardtown) capped the exciting first half with an unassisted goal with 3:44 to play in the second quarter.
Frostburg State continued the surge in the second half with five-straight goals.

Phil Hess (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata) opened the second half with a man-up score 32 seconds into action. Luhman found the net for the third time at 12:47 and freshman
Ricky Kneebone (Catonsville, Md./Catonsville) scored at 5:21 as FSU capped the third quarter scoring with an 8-2 lead.
The Bobcats added two more goals in the fourth quarter as Stailey assisted freshman
Lucas Flaig (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) at 12:20 and freshman
Ryan Serio (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) found fellow freshman
Brandon Lutz (Leonardtown, Md./Leonardtown) at 10:00 for a 10-2 lead. Shenandoah closed out the contest with a goal in the final seconds.

Thomas Issermoyer (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) made seven saves to earn the win. Classmate
John Glass (Lusby, Md./Patuxent) replaced Issermoyer late in the fourth quarter and made two saves of his own.
The trio of Luhman, Dowd and Stailey accounted for most of the offensive damage, totaling eight points. Luhman finished with three goals, Dowd had two goals and an assist and Stailey accounted for one goal and one assist.
The Bobcats return to action on Wednesday when they host St. Vincent at 4:00 pm.
