Women's Basketball Falls to Juniata

HUNTINGDON, Pa. - The Frostburg State University women's basketball team lost to Juniata in non-conference action, 77-40, Sunday afternoon. The Bobcats drop to 2-3 on the season while the Eagles remain undefeated at 6-0.

FSU struggled from the field throughout the contest, making just eight baskets in each half. Sophomore Elaina Hummel was the lone FSU player in double figures with 12 points. Seniors Meische Cox and India Hall each pulled down seven rebounds.

Juniata outscored the Bobcats in each half and raced out to a 37-18 lead at the break. The Eagles shot 43.2 percent in the second half and pushed their lead to 30 points with 9:36 to play in the game.

As a team, Juniata shot a season-low 39.2 percent from the floor, but made up for it from behind the arc. The Eagles knocked downed 11 three-pointers, including seven in the second stanza.

Frostburg kept it close early on and trailed by just two, 12-10, with 12:27 to play in the first half. However, Juniata took control from there using a 14-0 run to push its lead to 24-10 at 7:35. The hosts extended their lead to 21 points, 35-14, at 4:02 before leading 37-18 at the break.

Three players scored in double figures for the Eagles. Meagan Raville and Alyssia Gordon each made six baskets and three three-pointers. Rayville finished with 18 points while Gordon had 17.

The Bobcats return to the court this Wednesday when they open Capital Athletic Conference action at Marymount at 6:00 pm.
