CRESSON, Pa. - In a key Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference matchup with less than a week left in the regular season, the Frostburg State softball team dropped a pair of games to Mt. Aloysius, 4-2 and 9-1 in five innings, Tuesday afternoon.

The Bobcats, who entered the day with the fewest losses in league play, sit at 22-13 overall and 14-4 in the AMCC. Meanwhile, the Mounties (22-10, 15-3) ended the afternoon with the league's fewest losses and with a sweep of Medaille on Saturday, will host the upcoming AMCC Tournament.
FSU struck first in game one with a single run off the bat of junior
Brooke Tapman (Pocomoke, Md./Pocomoke). The reigning AMCC Player of the Week, drove home a run for the sixth consecutive game and put the Bobcats up 1-0.
Mt. Aloysius tied the contest in the bottom of the fifth and captured the lead with three runs in the sixth for a 4-1 edge. Sophomore
Lauren Scrivener (Baltimore, Md./Eastern Tech) singled home a run to cut into the deficit in the top of the seventh, but was later thrown out at second for the final out of the game.
Sophomore
Megan Magee (Egg Harbor City, N.J./Holy Spirit) endured the loss after giving up four runs (one earned) on seven hits.
The nightcap didn't go particulary well for Frostburg State either as MTA jumped out to a 5-0 led after the first inning. The Mounties managed seven hits and capitalized on three Bobcat errors for the early edge.
Freshman
Taylor Vandegrift (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) drew a bases loaded walk in the third inning as FSU plated its only run of the contest. Mt. Aloysius added two runs in both the third and fourth innings and held FSU hitless in the top of the fifth for the win.
Junior
Megan Henne (Pasadena, Md./Northeast) took the loss after allowing nine runs (six earned) on 11 hits in 4.0 innings.
Tapman finished the doubleheader with three hits and a RBI while senior
Lindsay Freitag (Baltimore, Md./Parkville) had two hits and two runs.
Frostburg State returns to action on Thursday when it travels to Stevenson at 3:30 pm.
