FROSTBURG, Md. - Three players recorded double-doubles, six players scored in double figures and the Frostburg State women's basketball team tied a season-high in scoring as it downed D'Youville 81-71 in the regular-season finale for both teams, Saturday afternoon on 'Hoops for Haiti' day.

The Bobcats (18-7, 15-5) trailed early in the contest behind some hot shooting from beyond the arc for D'Youville (6-19, 6-14). The Spartans led by as many as eight points, 11-3, 4:10 into action behind three quick 3-pointers. However, junior
Lisa Byer (Johnstown, Pa. / Conemaugh (Allegany College)) hit a three of own at 6:24 to put the Bobcats up for good, 23-20. FSU pushed its lead to 10 (35-25) less than four minutes later and held its largest lead (40-29) with just 19 seconds left before leading by eight at the break, 40-32.
Despite Frostburg leading the entire second half, the Spartans battled throughout, using a 9-2 run over the middle part of the stanza to trail by just four (53-49) with 8:51 to play.
FSU extended its lead to 12 points inside the final five minutes, but DYC again narrowed the deficit to just five with 41 seconds to play. Frostburg State sealed the win from there making 5-of-5 free throws inside the last 31 seconds.

Caryn Wright (Baltimore, Md./Western Tech) led the Bobcats with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Classmate
Brittany James (Baltimore, Md./Milford Mill) finished with 14 points and 14 boards while freshman
Elizabeth Erickson (Bellwood, Pa./Bellwood Antis) turned in 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Junior
Elizabeth Carrington (Clinton, Md. / Oxon Hill) finished with 15 points, Byer had 13 and freshman Stephanie Straka (Jerome, Pa./Conemaugh Township) rounded out the group in double figures with 10.
FSU finished 22-of-27 at the line and led in rebounding 51-35 to overpower a D'Youville team that finished 13-of-25 from beyond the arc.
Melissa Kanalley led all players with 26 points and seven 3-pointers while Holly Beats scored 19 and grabbed 12 boards.
Frostburg State returns to the court on Tuesday when it hosts La Roche in the opening round of the AMCC Tournament at 6:00 pm.
