Mary Washington Rebounds for 83-75 Win Over FSU Men's Basketball

FROSTBURG, Md. - The Frostburg State University men's basketball team let one slip away as Mary Washington rebounded from a 13-point halftime deficit for a 83-75 win, Friday.

The Eagles (5-2, 3-0) trailed 48-35 at intermission, but came storming out of the locker room and needed less than five minutes to trim the deficit to just one, 52-51. Two minutes later and UMW led by one, 55-54.

Both teams traded punches over the next few minutes and FSU emerged with a two-point lead, 67-65, at 9:01. However, UMW retook the lead moments later held onto it until the final horn. The Bobcats trimmed the deficit to one, 73-72, at 2:51, but Mary Washington pulled away for the eight-point win.

The Eagles shot 60.0 percent from the field (17-of-28) in the second half and finished at 52.5 percent (32-of-61) for the contest.

The Bobcats held the upper hand in the opening half of play shooting 51.4 percent from the floor (19-of-37). FSU trailed by one, 17-16, at 13:34 but rattled off 13-straight points for a 29-17 edge. The Eagles managed to bring the deficit back under 10 points two times but Frostburg State extended the lead back to 13, 48-35, at the break.

Senior Brian Anderson (Perry Hall, Md./Eastern Tech) scored a team-high 20 points and has led the Bobcats in scoring in five of the seven games this season. Senior Steven Ogg (Arlington, Va./Yorktown) finished with 15 while junior Jamal Bracken (Baltimore, Md./Eastern Tech) added 11 points and a team-high nine rebounds.

Matt Boward led all scorers with 21 points with four 3-PT's. E.J. Willis came off the bench to spark the Eagles with 16 points on 8-of-10 shooting (80.0%).

Frostburg State returns to action on Wednesday, December 8 at Ft. Detrick when it squares off against Hood at 8:00 pm.
