WASHINGTON, D.C. – In a game that featured an amazing 11 lead changes and six ties, the Frostburg State University men’s basketball team came up on the wrong side of the final score with a 76-64 loss to the Catholic University of America, Tuesday. The loss is the first of the season for FSU which now boasts a 3-1 overall slate.

The Bobcats led by as many as seven points with less than eight minutes left in the contest and appeared to be in control. However, FSU made its final basket with 6:06 to play and CUA (3-0) closed out the game with a 17-0 run for the win.
The first half featured nine lead changes and four ties and Catholic came away with a late layup for a slim one-point lead, 36-35, at the break. Each team shot better than 45 percent from the floor in the first half and both squads made 15 baskets.
The second half featured just two lead changes and each team led by as many as seven until CUA’s final run handed it the win.
Senior
Brian Anderson (Perry Hall, Md./Eastern Tech) led the Bobcats with 19 points, including five three-pointers. He added four assists and a pair of steals. Junior
Maurice Williams (Columbus, Ohio/Pickerington Central) scored nine points and junior
Troy Dockett (South Riding, Va./Freedom) had eight.
FSU shot 39.7 percent from the floor (27-of-68) and totaled seven three-pointers while CUA shot 46.7 percent from the field (28-of-60) with five three-pointers. The Cardinals made up the difference in free throws as they finished 15-of-24 at the line (62.5%) with 12 coming in the second half.
Catholic had two players finish with double-doubles. Jason Banzhaf scored 23 points and pulled down 11 rebounds while Chris Kearney finished 13 points and 11 boards.
FSU returns to action on Monday, Nov. 29 when it travels to Allegheny at 7:00 pm.
