Men's Soccer Ties with CAC Opponent Mary Washington, 1-1

FROSTBURG, Md. - After a hard fought game, the Frostburg State men's soccer team ended in a deadlock at 1-1 with Capital Athletic Conference opponent, Mary Washington, Saturday afternoon.

Sophomore Dillon Muise (Germantown, Md./Clarksburg) broke open a scoreless game less than five minutes into the second half to give the Bobcats (4-7-2, 1-2-2) a 1-0 lead. The Eagles (7-2-2, 2-0-1) tied the game just four minutes later, however, with a goal off a penalty kick from Ryan Taibl.

The FSU defense held strong and played tough and did not allow the UMW offense to get off another shot in the period. Each team was held scoreless through the next two overtime periods as both defenses had a strong control of the game.

Mary Washington outshot Frostburg State, 12-7, though seven of UMW's shots came in the first half. Muise and junior Michael Bistany (Greenbelt, Md./Dematha Catholic) each had two shots with Muise leading with two shots on goal. Taibl paced all players with four shots.

Junior goalkeeper Stephen Cavallo (Charlotte, N.C./East Lincoln) had a strong game in goal, making two saves and only allowing a goal on a penlty kick. The Eagles' keeper, Hunter Wootten, made just three saves in goal.

The Bobcats continue CAC play as they travel to St. Mary's (Md.) on Saturday, October 16 for a 3:00 pm contest.
