FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - The Frostburg State volleyball team held on to first place in the Capital Athletic Conference with a 3-0 shutout of Mary Washington, Wednesday night. The Bobcats are currently riding a six-match winning streak and have posted five-straight shutouts.
The Bobcats (19-2, 4-0) took down the Eagles 25-20, 25-22 and 25-14. The loss was the second-straight in the CAC for the Eagles (13-7, 3-2) as they fell to York, 3-0, on Saturday.
Senior
Sarah Stephens (Oakland, Md./Southern Garrett) smashed 14 kills and captured 13 digs for her 12th double-double of the year. She also added one assist. Fellow senior
Jamie Thomas (Laurel, Md./Reservoir) posted nine kills, eight digs, two aces and one block while senior
Brittany McVearry (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) had six digs and three aces.
Junior
Kylie Carrington (New Freedom, Pa./Susquehannock) handed out 29 assists, four digs, one kill and one ace, classmate
Sabrina Winterling (Glenelg, Md./Glenelg) had six kills and a block and fellow junior
Amber Winterling (Glenelg, Md./Glenelg) had seven digs, three kills, one block and one ace.
The Bobcats travel to Annville, Pa. this weekend for a quad-match at Lebanon Valley College starting on Friday evening.
