YORK, Pa. - A York goal in the 61st minute proved to be the difference as Frostburg State dropped its Capital Athletic Conference match to the Spartans, 1-0, Saturday afternoon.
Box Score
The lone goal, and game-winner, came on junior foward Kemal Nusphaic's fourth goal of the season. He took a pass from midfielder Lucas Emil and deposited it behind Frostburg State senior goalkeeper
Stephen Cavallo (Charlotte, N.C./East Lincoln).
Nusphaic's goal came after the Bobcats (3-7-1, 1-2-1) had stifled York's offense in the first half, holding the Spartans without a shot on goal on seven attempts. Frostburg State registered one shot on goal in the first half. In the second frame, however, York (9-3. 3-0) managed to register 10 total shots, with six on goal. For the contest, York outshot the Bobcats, 17-6.
Cavallo's five saves in the second half kept the Bobcats' hopes alive, but York goalkeeper Jesse Derksen earned his ninth win of the season in the shutout.
Junior defender
Greg Hill (Upper Marlboro, Md./Bishop McNamara) led Frostburg with two shots, with Hill and sophomore midfielder
Jason King (Herndon, Va./Herndon) each registering one of the Bobcats' two shots on goal.
Frostburg State returns to non-conference action when they host St. Vincent College Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m.
