Men's Hoops Hits Triple Digits in 106-93 Win Over Mt. Aloysius

FROSTBURG, Md. - Junior Brian Anderson (Perry Hall, Md./Eastern Tech) scored 28 points and the Frostburg State men's basketball team topped 100 points for the second time this season with a 106-93 victory over Mt. Aloysius, Thursday night.

The Bobcats (10-6, 7-5) took the lead for good just 18:24 into the first half and raced out to their highest point total in the first half of any game this season, as they led 50-43 at the break. Anderson ended the first half of play with five quick points. He drained a three-pointer from the corner and after stealing the in bound pass, made a layup with just one second left.

FSU captured a double-digit lead just 35 seconds into the second half, 53-43, and reached a 20-point edge at 13:55. The Bobcats held a game-high 24-point lead with 11:59 to play, but the Mounties (9-7, 6-6) slowly chipped away at the deficit. Mt. Aloysius trailed by just nine (98-89) after a pair of Armond Perez free throws at 2:19. FSU pushed its lead back to 15 points with 1:18 to play and the Mounties closed out the game's scoring with a layup with 29 seconds left.

Both teams shot around 50.0 percent from the field with Mt. Aloysius holding a slim 52.6-49.3 percent edge. However, the Bobcats made seven more baskets (37-30) than the Mounties and convereted 22 offensive boards into 18 second chance points.

Anderson tied a career-high with six 3-pointers and led the Bobcats with three steals. Junior Busha Koffa (Germantown, Md./Seneca Valley) added 19 points behind 60.0 percent shooting (6-of-10) while senior Nick Sefcik (Shady Grove, Md./Damascus) and junior #Ellis Hartridge, Jr.# (Washington, D.C./Anacostia) each totaled 14. Junior Steven Ogg (Arlington, Va./Yorktown) scored eight points, handed out a career-high eight assists and grabbed a game-high nine rebounds.

Perez led all players with 29 points, including 16 in the opening half. He finished 9-of-13 (69.2%) from the floor and 9-of-11 (81.8%) from the foul line. Harold Clark added 13 points while Richard McNutt came off the bench to score 14.

Frostburg State returns to the floor on Wednesday, January 27 when it hosts Penn State Altoona at 8:00 pm.
