GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Senior
Brooke Winterling (Glenelg, Md./Glenelg) and sophomore
Kylie Carrington (New Freedom, Pa./Susquehannock) were named to the Gettysburg College Blast all tournament team after the Frostburg State volleyball team defeated both Elizabethtown, 3-0, and Gettysburg 3-2, Saturday.
Frostburg State (9-1) was the only team at the tournament to win all four games this weekend. The Bobcats downed Elizabethtown (5-3) with game scores of 25-21, 25-20, 25-13.
In game one, Brooke Winterling posted 18 kills while junior
Sarah Stephens (Oakland, Md./Southern Garrett) and sophomore
Sabrina Winterling (Glenelg, Md./Glenelg) each had eight. Stephens also had 12 digs and two services aces while Sabrina Winterling recorded two blocks.
Carrington handed out 38 assists against Elizabethtown and sophomore
Amber Winterling (Glenelg, Md./Glenelg) chipped in nine digs and two service aces. Junior
Brittany McVearry (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) also had eight digs and two service aces in the win.
In game two, Frostburg State battled back to defeat Gettysburg (8-3) 3-2 with game scores of 20-25, 25-27, 25-16, 25-21, 15-11.
Brooke Winterling filled up the box score for Frostburg State recording 32 kills, 11 digs, four service aces and two blocks. Brooke Winterling's 32 kills ties for third on the single match records kill list for the Bobcats.
Carrington posted 59 assists against Gettysburg which is good enough for the ninth spot on the singles match records assists list.
Stephens had 12 kills and 10 digs while Amber Winterling led the team in digs with 22. Junior
Jamie Thomas (Laurel, Md./Reservoir) recorded 21 digs and two service aces in the win for the Bobcats and sophomore
Christine Barnes (Williamsport, Md./Williamsport) had two service aces.
The Bobcats are back on the court on September 16 at McDaniel at 7:00 pm.
