ALTOONA, Pa. - The Frostburg State volleyball squad posted its fourth-straight shutout and sixth in its last seven matches with a 3-0 sweep of Penn State Altoona, Wednesday.
The Bobcats, who earned their fourth shutout of an AMCC opponent this season, improved their record to 17-3 overall and 4-0 in the league. Penn State Altoona falls to an even 10-10 and suffered its first loss in league play (3-1).
Head Coach Peter Letourneau moved ever closer to a pair milestones. He needs just three more wins for the 100-win plateau and just four victories to become the all-time winningest coach at the helm of the FSU volleyball program.
Senior
Brooke Winterling (Glenelg, Md./Glenelg) led the attack with 22 kills and 16 digs. She also inched closer to a pair of milestones. She needs just 41 kills for 2,000 for her career and she needs just 61 kills to surpass the all-time career mark of 2,019.
Junior
Sarah Stephens (Oakland, Md./Southern Garrett) set season highs in both kills (15) and digs (14), to go along with two aces and a block and senior
Chelsea Wassell (Westernport, Md./Southern Garrett) had four kills and three blocks
Sophomore setter
Kylie Carrington (New Freedom, Pa./Susquehannock) contributed 40 assists, two blocks and two kills while sophomore
Amber Winterling (Glenelg, Md./Glenelg) added 11 digs.
Frostburg State hosts the FSU Quad Match this weekend starting with its match against Bridgewater on Friday at 5:00 pm.
