Frostburg State Blows by AMCC Opponent, Mt. Aloysius, 6-0

Senior Ricky Marchant
FROSTBURG, Md. - The Frostburg State men's soccer team shutout AMCC opponent Mt. Aloysius, 6-0, for its second-straight shutout and third-straight win on a cold Tuesday night.

FSU improved its overall record to 7-6-1 and its AMCC record to 3-3.

Senior Ricky Marchant (Rockville, Md./Walter Johnson) and sophomore Jamie Flewellyn (Arnold, Md./Broadneck) each had a pair of goals for the Bobcats, while senior Steven Jacobsen (Waldorf, Md./West Lake) and sophomore Michael Bistany (Greenbelt, Md./Damatha Catholic) each added one of their own in the 6-0 win.

Frostburg State dominated the contest on both sides of the ball. The FSU offense attempted 40 shots, 24 in the first half and a total of 16 on goal. Defensively, the Bobcats did not allow the Mounties (0-12, 0-6) to take a shot for the full 90:00 minutes of play.

The Bobcats broke the 0-0 tie in the 40th minute when Jacobsen found the net past Mountie keeper Jordan Johnson. Just four mintues later, Marchant sent a ball into the back of the net for his first goal in the game. The Bobcats would take the 2-0 lead into halftime.

The Frostburg State offense wasted little time in the second half when Flewellyn posted his first goal of the game just two minutes into play. Four mintues later, Flewellyn sent the ball past Mountie keeper for his second goal to bring the score to 4-0. Bistany would add to the lead with his only goal of the game at 66:01. Marchant finished off the scoring frenzy for the Bobcats with 15:00 minutes left to play with his second goal of the game to put the final score, 6-0, on the board.

Bobcat keeper Abiye Jack (Baltimore, Md./Loch Raven) played all 90 minutes in net for the hosts without making a save for his first win on the season. Johnson made 10 saves and allowed all six goals in the loss.

FSU returns to the field when it travels to Buffalo, N.Y. to take on AMCC opponent D'Youville on Saturday, Oct. 17 at 3:00 pm.
