STEUBENVILLE, Ohio - The Frostburg State men's basketball team shot a season-best 51 percent (38-of-74) from the floor in a 95-63 rout of Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference member Franciscan, Wednesday evening.
Sophomore
Brian Anderson (Perry Hall, Md./Eastern Tech) led the way for the Bobcats (5-6, 2-2) with 25 points and four rebounds.
Junior
Nick Sefcik (Shady Grove, Md./Damascus) scored the the first nine points of the game for FSU as he went 3-for-3 from behind the arc in the first minute and a half of play. The baskets gave the Bobcats a six point lead they would never look back on. Sefcik finished the evening with 11 points, four assists and two rebounds.
Franciscan (3-5, 0-3) cut the Frostburg State lead to eight at the 12:58 mark as Josh Ducoulombier hit a pair of free-throws, but that would be the final time the Barons would see a single-digit Bobcat advantage. The Bobcats would take a 50-27 advantage into the break thanks in part to Franciscan shooting a dismal 19 percent (6-for-31) from the floor in the half.
The second half of the contest saw more of the same as FSU went 16-of-32 from the floor never letting the Barons any closer than 18 points, while gradually extending its lead to the final 32 point advantage of 95-63.
Frostburg State continued to be hot from the free-throw stripe as they hit 12-of-16 for the contest.
Junior
Makiha Cooper (Baltimore, Md./Forest Park) delivered a season-best performance with 12 points and six rebounds on 6-of-8 shooting.
For the Barons, Ducoulombier led the way with 20 points and eight rebounds in the loss.
The Bobcats return to action on Saturday, January 10 as they host Pitt-Bradford for a 3:00 pm AMCC contest.
